Apparently Shadowpact has been cancelled as of issue #25. That pretty much solves my problem of continuing to purchase it. No sense in leaving only three issues un-bought, even if the quality of the book has taken a serious nosedive.
Goodbye Shadowpact, we hardly knew ye. Your current writer included.

That's upsetting (both the cancellation and the nosedive in quality). Shadowpact was a really cool concept.

Shadowpact had everything I could have wanted in a series. It was written by Fables creator Bill Willingham. Supernatural heroes, including Ragman, always one of my favorites. The Phantom Stranger! And yet, for all that, it never grabbed me. It always felt like the team was just a bunch of losers, who only won through some last minute switch after being humiliated for an entire arc. Even the character moments never grabbed me. I dropped it quite awhile ago, and though I'm sorry it's being cancelled, I'm not as sorry as I would be if it were good.
I've been debating dropping it for awhile now--since even before Willingham left. For me, it never really recaptured the flavour of the highly amusing miniseries that spawned it. Oh well.
I was just thinking the same thing, Jim. I think where they really went wrong was losing the "team of losers" aspect that was in the "Day of Vengeance" miniseries. I imagine it'd be hard to write a series where the heroes rarely win on their own.
